GUITARS, PEDALBOARD & AMPS

As far as guitars are concerned, Philippe plays mainly on a Gibson LP '57 Goldtop and a 2000 Gibson LP Standard equiped with P94s pickups (P94 are basically P90s in a Humbucker case).  Other guitars are a Fender Strat American Deluxe (50th anniversary) and an Epiphone Sheraton ("Old" model from 1987). Acoustic guitars include a 12 strings Takamine and a Martin XCustom series.

As far as effects are concerned, the guitar signal goes into a Phil's Face (my modified Fuzz Face!), then a Belfast Drive (Tube Driver from my friend Veil) , a crybaby Wah, a germanium Fuzz Face and a Fulltone OCD clone in front of a Mesa Boogie VTWIN tube pre-amp.  Then the signals goes through a MXR Phase90, a EH Pulsar Tremolo, a EH Stereo Electric Mistress, a Line6 Echo Park delay to end with a Digitech Hardwire Reverb.  The signal is full stereo after the Electric mistress to be able to route it to 2 amps.

The output of the pedal board goes to a Marshall Plexi Stack (1959SLP Head + 1960TV 4x12 green back cabinet) and/or a Orange AD15/12 combo.

BASS & AMPS

In live performances Marcelo plays 3 bass guitars: a MusicMan Stingray Classic Vintage Burst (4-string, maple fretboard), a Fender American Standard Jazz Bass 3-Color Sunburst (4-string, maple fretboard), and a Fender American Standard Precision Bass Olympic White (4-string, rosewood fretboard) through a Gallien-Krueger MB210 amp. For effects, he keeps it simple by using only an EBS MultiComp True Dual Band Compressor. When recording, he prefers playing the Stingray Classic bass through a Tech 21 SansAmp Bass Driver DI connected directly to the audio interface for the purest sound.

DRUMS

William practices and records using the direct outputs from his Roland TD-30 V-drums, No compression is used on the basic drum tracks, and the V-drum sounds are tweaked very little from the Roland pre-sets. On occasion William has to revert back to his vintage Ludwig blue "Vistalite" drumset, with Zildjian cymbals, when he can`t get the right feel with the V-drums. William still uses his old-school Ludwig "Speed King" kick drum pedals, and would rather fight than switch."

REHEARSING & RECORDING

Arctic Lunch rehearses with all instruments running direct into an old Mackie 32x8 mixing console, using a Furman 6 channel headphone distribution system to listen. This allows us to practice almost silently, at any time, without "disturbing the neighbors".

The headphone system also allows us to record relatively clean scratch vocal tracks, and gives the flexibility to record live drums when needed. Using a headphone system allows us to lay down bass and drum tracks during rehearsal, whenever the feeling is right, without the bleed-thru typical in a live recording.

Audio is captured using a MOTU 24 bit analog to digital interface and an MacBook running Pro Tools.
